Activities & Events

We offer members and residents the opportunity to participate in a whole programme of excursions & events, completely free ! Over the course of a typical year, there may be theatre matinees to see popular shows; days out at the seaside, with Hastings, Broadstairs, Southend and Margate all popular destinations; a river trip either up or down the Thames – we have visited Hampton Court, Kew Gardens and Greenwich in recent years; Afternoon Teas, where friends can meet over a cup of tea and some cake; a Christmas Lunch; and our Summer Garden Party.

Twice a year we write to all the members with a list of the excursions and events. Members then complete the form by ticking their choices and returning it to us so we can plan properly. For some excursions numbers are limited, and so we try to be as equitable as possible in ensuring that no-one is left out. As our trips are popular we cannot accommodate non-members so please do not be tempted to bring a friend – ask them to join us if you think they are eligible instead.  Because of the pressure on numbers if you need a carer you may need to contribute to the costs of the activities for them to attend.

We have now updated our programmed activities for January – March 2026.  Email members@southwarkcharities.org.uk to register your interest.  You will be contacted to confirm if you have a place.

January – March Events 2026

Dear Members,

Please find details of trips for the second half of the year which you can register an interest in. We have limited places for each and will always try and ensure everyone gets a turn to attend.

There are always more people than space on every trip and we will try and make the allocation of spaces as fair as possible but please only register for trips/events you are really interested in attending or taking part.

For the theatre trips, you will have to arrange your own transport unless it states coach travel included. Theatres are well served by buses but please only ask to attend if you are safe to travel alone.

Thursday 29th January 2026 – MJ The Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre. Show start 2.30pm

Tuesday 10th February 2026 – Versace Exhibition at the Arches London Bridge. Entry at 2pm

Tuesday 17th February 2026 – Chinese New Year Celebration. Lunch and entertainment at Walworth Living Room – 1.30pm

Wednesday 4th March 2026 – Kew Gardens and Orchid Exhibition. Depart Old Kent Rd 9.30am.

Tuesday 17th March 2026 – 2 hour baking session in Borough Market. (Limited spaces) 

Wednesday 25th March 2026 – Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club, Embankment. A £30 deposit required and refunded after the show.

Please note all coach trips leave from outside the Eurotraveller Hotel on Old Kent Rd.

Failure to attend an event if confirmed will stop your next charity payment.
