Unprecedented number of grants committed

Back to newsWe are pleased to say that a record 65 grants were committed in 2024 to community organisations and charities benefitting the well-being of Southwark older people aged 55 plus. Our grants supported a wide range of initiatives from the core costs of services delivery for older people to trips and parties for pensioners, from diverse communities in Southwark.

The good news follows the Institute for Voluntary Action Research’s independent biennial review of our progress against the 8 commitments of funding good practice, which concluded that:

Southwark Charities commitment to funding good practice since 2022 has been validated by the Institute for Voluntary Action Research, and community groups and charities have fed back that they find our application and decision-taking process supportive, light-touch, proportionate and quick. We have increased our resources for voluntary and community organisations that support the wellbeing of Southwark’s older residents with an unprecedented number of grants committed in 2024 reaching into diverse communities in Southwark.
